Finkelstein at UW

Renowned scholar and author Dr. Norman Finkelstein, the son of Holocaust survivors, is a passionate and persuasive defender of Palestinian rights and is on the forefront of the fight for academic freedom in the United States. He will be discussing Israel and Palestine: Roots of Conflict, Prospects for Peace.

Dr. Finkelstein's books include Beyond Chutzpah; the Misuse of Anti-Semitism and Abuse of History (2005), The Holocaust Industry (2000), A Nation on Trial (1998) and Image and Reality of the Israel-Palestinian Conflict (1995).

In 2007, Dr. Finkelstein was denied tenure by DePaul University, despite being almost unanimously recommended for it by the school's boards. Enormous outside pressure had been applied to the school's administration to deny his opportunity to teach and speak on the issue, as reported in The Chronicle of Higher Education
